Rare green glazed grain crusher and mill and farmer from the Western Han Dynasty (206 BCE/9 C.E.). There is simple hard to see repair on the grain crusher and the farmer has been glued back together- please examine enlargements. Classic silver lead glazed patina. Farmer H: 10cm/4in. Grain shed: L: 14cm/5.5in x H: 6cm/2.4in and W: 9.8cm/3.9in.

Ming jar with blue underglaze chrysanthemum no damage but there are firing flaws in the glaze- please see enlargements. This was fired in Guangdong Province - locally, this type is referred to as a “gunpowder” jar although, I don’t know if this was it what it was really used for. H: 13.5cm/5.2in and D: 17.cm/6.8 in.

Very rare potter image of a woman breastfeeding her child. This is the only one in this style I have ever seen. The woman is kneeling in heavily swaddled clothing-in her right hand she is holding her breast to feed her child that she is cradling in her left- a timeless image. H: 18.5cm/7.2in

Pair of lovely light turquoise pastel blue Qingbai glazed jars with lotus leaf shaped lids circa 1200 CE, which would put them on the cusp of Southern Song/Yuan Dynasties. The lids have been restored- so please see enlargements, jars are in good condition with no damage. H: 16.5cm/6.5in and D: 12cm/4.8in.

This bowl has an elegant deeply incised abstract foliate pattern, and everted notched rim Good original condition- some kiln grit and a firing crack at the bottom of cavetto, has bell like tone when tapped. This is a molded gray clay brick/tile from the Tang Dynasty, featuring an "Atlas" type Yakshi figure seated on a lotus blossom. I encountered a similar figure during my visit to Taxila, the cradle of the Gandharan Civilization, which highlights the Greco-Roman origins of Tang art. Unusual Ming Dynasty stoneware celadon glazed censer on a reddish clay body, possibly Longquan or an allied kiln, uncommon to see fine translucent craquelure on Longquan, though. Good condition- no cracks or damage just some bits of kiln grit adhering to the glaze surface. D: 11.5cm/4.5in and H: 5.5cm/2.1in

Rare soy brown glazed stoneware vessel made in the shape of a grain silo. This basic style are well documented in Qingbai wares but this is the first I have seen in a brown glaze, also it has a fence going around the base which is quite unusual. It is in excellent condition with no repairs, cracks or fritting of the glaze and it is unusually large. H: 24cm/9.5in and D: 18cm/7in. It reminds me a lot of a Jizhou glaze but this seems heavier and more stable.

Sino Tibetan Tara image, she is worshipped as a Buddha in Vajrayana Buddhism and Bodhisattva in Mahayana, fundamentally she represents the feminine nature of Buddhism. She is seated in lalitasana with hands in varada- and vitarkamudra, with downcast eyes beneath a tiered crown fronting a tall chignon, wearing a dhoti, elaborate jewelry and long scarf. Classic celadon Yueyao glazed bowl from Zhejiang, 5 Dynasties period, circa 907 to 979CE. Unglazed circle at the bottom of the cavetto is where another bowl was stacked while being fired. There are couple of very small firing hairlines and tiny chips on the rim, otherwise good condition for an 1100 year old ceramic. D: 15cm/5.9in and H: 5.8cm/2.2in.

Very fine and rare unusually small Tang image of a Court Eunuch, excellent condition with complete original pigments. Lovely feminine face (similar to the classic Tang “Fat Lady”) with calm and dignified expression. H: 17cm/6.8in.

Good porcelain quality Qingbai bowl from Jingdezhen with classic sea green colored glaze and sugar like clay body. There is an internal firing hairline crack noted midway in the cavetto noted in enlargements- still has a clear bell like tone when tapped. . There are remnants of an original metal rim fused on the mouth rim. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 5.9cm/2.2in.

Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Very rare antique lacquer box from the Southern Shan States circa late 19th CE to early 20th CE. This a complete set (which is rare in itself these days). The pattern though simple is exquisitely detailed. I have not seen this pattern documented anywhere and I have a few of this type all acquired in China in Yunnan, so I am wondering if it is possible it was made by the ethnic Shan (Daizu) living there. Rare men’s loin cloth from the Northern Chin, Haka group Burma. Mantle of Merit: Barbara Fraser has a good write up on these, and has a couple of pieces dating to late 19th to early 20th century, she also writes these were rarely used after 1950 circa first half 20th century. Lovely two handled pottery jar from the Northern China circa (2200 BCE – 1600 BCE), Classic Qijia Period in near perfect condition with just a couple of minor chips on one handle. H: 12.9cm/5.1in and W: 11.8cm/4.7in.

Good late Joseon Dynasty, 19th century stoneware cup/bowl with high footrim and pale greenish gray glaze and gray stoneware , this is a simple regional folk ware but has a pleasing almost celadon feel to it that needs to be held to be appreciated. There is some kiln grit in the cavetto as well as three minor hairline stress cracks. H: 8.7cm/3.5in and D: 13.1cm//5.2in.

Mid 20th century textile from the Mulao ethnic group Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Province. This is a two paneled blanket with original border and supplementary weft silk embroidered pattern phoenix and flowers on a cotton field “key fret” pattern- all handspun threads. Good condition - no holes or missing embroidery threads. L: 110cm/43in and W: 66cm/cm/26in- with blue cotton border L: 153cm/59in and W: 110cm/43on.

Unusual, late Ayutthaya or Early Rattanakosin Period Thailand Buddha head. The bronze has been cast with quite light bronze and the ears are made from copper strips and lacquered over.
