Strand of Yuan to Ming Dynasty glass trade beads excavated from the Tak Hilltop burial site along the Thai Burmese border. Because 14th/16th CE ceramics found the same strata it is easy to date these beads being from no later than this period, although archaic jade and crystal items over a thousand years old were found as well, these were most likely ancient trade items that have been circulating for over a millennia. Scale is in enlargements...

Glass charm emulating white nephrite Jade inscribed with delicate Arabic verses from the Koran on both sides. This set is in silver with a copper loop to hold on a chord. I bought this in Hong Kong so original provenance is unknown- possibly from the Xinjiang, Turkic Uyghur speaking area. Jade was very popular during the Mughal period in India and I would date this piece circa 19th century. Excellent condition- no chips or cracks. L 5.3cm/2.1in and W: 3.4cm/1.3in. Free shipping.

Very long strand of made in Boshan, Shandong Province, Chinese wound glass trade beads 114cm/48in. Average D: 7mm/.25in. These were acquired in Northern Thailand in the 1980s, these should date to 1950 or earlier, the opaque white beads in the strand are Qing Dynasty. This type of bead was widely traded throughout Southeast Asia for centuries and amongst the Akha people considered to be heirlooms. Free shipping via Hong registered airmail. Great for bead designers.

Unusual example of a Ming glass flower, emulating Nephrite jade, this would have sewn onto a piece of clothing or a hat as a kind of jewelry. This appears to have been cast from a mold, the edges are surrounding by tiny chips- most likely these were cast in groups and cut off from the single sheet. There was lot of dirt on this piece when I acquired it indicating this is an excavated piece, I have cleaned it up the best I could...

Two strands of colorful and quirky glass bangle fragments drilled and reworked into beads. These are Persia, circa 6th CE - 7th CE which would make them late Sassanian Empire or early Islamic Era. L: 54cm/21.2in and 59cm/23.2in. See last enlargement for scale. Please note the tiny beads at the end are a combination of ancient Indo Pacific and Pyu glass beads. Ensemble of very old beads, I found these in a small shop in Phrae, Northeast Thailand a few years ago. The green mottled beads are late Qing Dynasty Peking glass, the brown glass tapered tube bead emulating agate was probably made for the Funan or Chenla Kingdoms as I have agate beads from the same period which are pretty much identical, the white bead with orange splash is at least early Qing...

Quirky glass ring emulating agate. This piece came from China but possibly is a trade object. I acquired this in a lot of other ancient pieces. A conservative dating to this is Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and guarantees it to this period. There is one crack as well as some bubble burst pitting on the surface. Outer D: 2.8cm and inner D: 1.9cm.
