Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, circa 2000-1000BCE. 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Rare Tang Dynasty glazed saucer from the Gongxian kiln Henan, China. This has bell like tone when tapped. There is a repaired chip on the rim (noted in enlargements) tiny fritting on glaze. D: 13.2cm/5.4in and H: 2.3cm/0.7in. Looks like the moon.

Fine and unusual gray pottery jar with a band of animals circling the upper part. The animals are carved in exceptional detail. This piece is in perfect condition and the potting is particularly refined for an artifact from this era. The surface has a fast water absorption rate and classic petrichor odor associated with ancient pottery. H: 16cm/6.2in and D: 18.5cm/7.2in.

Very rare Warring States Period circa (circa 475BCE–221 BCE) jar with ribbed pattern. I’ve seen these in publications, but this is the first one I have seen in person. There is one chip on the mouthrim, as can be seen in enlargements, but otherwise in excellent condition. Very sharply carved with decorated lugs. H: 13cm/5.1in and D: 16cm/6.2in.

Rare Warring States, circa 475–221 BCE, squat gray pottery jar, with incised wave, impressed diamond and large carved spiral patterned bands. The spiral pattern is quite interesting as this is usually only seen on archaic jade bi from the period. Some of the tips of the spiral are broken otherwise superb condition considering its delicacy and age. The surface absorbs water very quickly with a distinct petrichor scent.
